Due to the limited availability of this exclusive fabric, only 200 pieces of the Hexa Black Edition are produced worldwide. Each bag features a unique identification number, highlighting its exclusivity.

"Can we incorporate carbon fiber into daily life despite its high cost and limited availability?" This question sparked the beginning of our project.

After two years of dedicated research and development, we finally succeeded in creating a carbon fiber product designed for everyday use.

 

As a motorcycle design brand, Factory M has specialized in carbon composite products since 2008. While traditionally focused on motorcycle parts, the brand aimed to expand its expertise into everyday accessories, resulting in the creation of the 109 Carbon Sling Bag.

 

We present the 109 Carbon Sling Bag, featuring a carbon hardshell crafted by a composite product expert using the same manufacturing process as for motorcycle carbon parts. The bag is meticulously completed by a master craftsman with 35 years of experience in designing and creating high-end bags, combining functional materials with a timeless design.

The hardshell of the 109 Carbon Sling Bag is crafted from the same carbon fiber used in the carbon body of a supercar. In addition, it incorporates functional materials that only enhance its classic features as time passes.

The most important feature of a bag is to be "convenient and pleasant." After extensive product testing, we have crafted a design that offers users comfort and ease in their daily lives, whether riding a motorcycle or enjoying leisure activities.

Carbon fiber is 10 times stronger and 4 times lighter than steel. Made from this advanced material, the carbon body of the bag ensures a lightweight and comfortable fit.

 

I. Features of the carbon body

1) The body of the 109 Carbon Sling Bag is exceptionally strong. The shock-resistant properties of the carbon fiber protect the contents from various impacts, as well as from potential theft.

 

2) The carbon body also acts as a barrier against electromagnetic waves, providing security by preventing the leakage of personal information through RFID.

The carbon hardshell is crafted from TORAYCA® fabric, produced by TORAY, and is expertly made by a composite product specialist with a focus on motorcycle carbon parts. The surface is coated with a UV protection clear specifically designed for carbon products, preventing any yellowing over time.

 

The 109 Carbon Sling Bag has a capacity of 3.5 liters, capable of storing a tablet like the Apple iPad Pro 11-inch model. Just as automobiles are named after their engine displacement, the product name "109" is derived from the 109 grams weight of its carbon hardshell.

It is natural for a product to wear out over time, but it can also evolve and deepen its beauty as it ages. This process is known as "aging." The functional materials used in the 109 Carbon Sling Bag, including Italian vegetable oil pull-up leather, Fuji Kinbai waxed canvas, Alcantara, and Kevlar, are highly reliable and become more dynamic and beautiful as they age over time.

 

1) Tempesti ELBAMATT oil pull-up vegetable leather

TEMPESTI is a traditional tannery with 70 years of history, belonging to the VERA PELLE (Vegetable Tanned Leather Consortium) in Toscana, Italy. The ELBAMATT leather used in the 109 Carbon Sling Bag is a type of oil pull-up leather, proudly produced by TEMPESTI. This leather is created by permeating oil into the leather rather than coating it, making it water-repellent and highly resilient to scratches.

 

The traces of usage on the 109 Carbon Sling Bag naturally age, enhancing the beauty of the product over time. Additionally, the ELBAMATT leather used in the bag is made from Whole Skin, free of Spaccare (skiving leather), ensuring a premium feel and touch.

VERA PELLE stands for ethical and environmentally friendly leather and adheres to the following five principles:

1. We do not kill animals for leather.
2. Our products can be easily recycled using eco-friendly dyeing techniques.
3. We invest heavily in purification and waste recycling systems.
4. We recover or recycle substances produced during the tanning process.
5. Our products do not contain any toxic substances that may cause metal allergies.

 

2) Fuji Kinbai waxed canvas

A waxed canvas is created by coating wax onto a canvas, making it more durable and solid compared to regular canvas. This process gives it waterproof properties, making it ideal for applications like sails and raincoats.

The Japanese 富士金梅® (Fuji Kinbai) used in the Carbon Sling Bag is a renowned canvas brand with 70 years of experience in waxed canvas. It is distinguished by its light and soft texture, achieved through a double paraffin coating process.

 

A waxed canvas provides excellent protection against rain and other contaminants, while also enhancing its sophistication as it ages. Over time, the fabric can be restored through a process called "rewaxing", where paraffin wax is reapplied. This not only restores the canvas but also intensifies its colors and highlights its aged beauty.

VERA PELLE & Fuji Kinbai Warranty

The 109 Carbon Sling Bag package includes a warranty for the TEMPESTI ELBAMATT leather and Fuji Kinbai waxed canvas. The warranty comes with a unique identification number, ensuring the quality and authenticity of the materials used.

 

3) Alcantara

Alcantara is a premium material produced in Italy, renowned for its use in supercar interiors.
Its texture is similar to suede, yet it offers high abrasion resistance, making it ideal for use in interiors.
In the Carbon Sling Bag, Alcantara is used for both the strap and the lining, ensuring a comfortable fit by preventing chafing against your skin while wearing the bag.

 

Alcantara is highly pollution-resistant, making it less vulnerable to deformation caused by sweat or rain. It is certified as a non-hazardous material, with no chemical treatments applied.

Furthermore, it is an ECO-friendly material, holding a "carbon neutrality" certification for all processes, from manufacturing to disposal.

 

4) Oxford TPU Coated Liner

The liner of the 109 Carbon Sling Bag is made from coated Oxford fabric. This Oxford fabric, with a TPU coating on the back, is highly water-resistant. Together with the Fuji Kinbai waxed canvas and YKK waterproof zipper, the Oxford fabric ensures that you don't have to worry about your bag, even in bad weather such as rainy days.

 

III. Finished by handwork of a master craftsman

A perfect finish is crucial. The 109 Carbon Sling Bag is created in collaboration with a master craftsman who has 35 years of experience in designing and repairing luxury bags. Each Carbon Sling Bag is crafted by the handwork of this expert, making it produced in limited quantities each day.

 

Due to the solid structure of the carbon hardshell, Kevlar® fabric by Dupont® is used for sewing. Until now, no one had successfully sewn carbon hardshell with fabric, but after numerous tests with the master craftsman, we succeeded in sewing them together using Kevlar, ensuring durability and strength.

Since durability is crucial for a lock, we use a product made in South Korea that offers superior functionality and precision. The MIL SPEC metal lock, triple-coated by a military-grade plating company, has five times the durability of standard locks.

 

2. YKK waterproof zipper and YKK buckle

The zipper and buckles are the most frequently handled parts of the bag, which is why a solid and meticulous finish is essential. The Carbon Sling Bag features a YKK waterproof zipper and YKK buckles. The durability of the zipper is further enhanced by double-sewing it with the lining for added strength.

Under the motto of "design for function," every aspect of the 109 Carbon Sling Bag is purposefully designed with a specific function in mind. The top cover is strategically placed to prevent the zipper from malfunctioning due to wind during high-speed rides.

 

Additionally, the zipper can be hidden inside the cover, offering extra protection from theft. This is made possible by the double-locking mechanism of the slide metal lock, ensuring your belongings stay secure.

The box of the Carbon Sling Bag is the first part of the product that the user encounters, which is why it is designed to be kept, not thrown away. The front of the box features a black background, with the name of the Carbon Sling Bag displayed in a sleek white logo.

The package box is designed with inspiration from helmet boxes, a familiar design for motorcycle riders. A handle is included for easy transportation.
