In every one of these feats, there is always a material that meets the great challenge of surpassing human limits.

That material is CARBON FIBER.

 

Carbon fiber is a revolutionary material that many people have heard of but few have encountered firsthand. It is 5 times stronger than steel and 10 times stronger than aluminum, yet incredibly lightweight. This unique combination makes it ideal for use in superbikes, race machines, fighter planes, and spaceships. For this reason, carbon fiber is often referred to as the "dream material."

The [Numbering Carbon Bag Project] represents Factory M's new challenge to bring the power and innovation of carbon fiber into everyday life.

 

12 years of experience in manufacturing composite materials and 35 years of experience in manufacturing luxury bags.

Factory M is a high-end motorcycle design brand that manufactures carbon products from design to packaging.

For the past 12 years, we have been designing and producing composite products, focusing on integrating carbon fiber into our high-performance motorcycle products. This led us to ask:

"Could these high-performance materials be applied to a broader range of fields, beyond just motorcycles?"

This question sparked our journey to create a carbon fiber item that could be enjoyed by a wider audience.

 

We recalled the F1 carbon frame, designed to protect drivers at speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour.

We realized that the lightweight and strong properties of carbon were perfectly suited to the essence of a bag—one that is easy to carry while also protecting its contents.

 

To create such a carbon hardshell bag, we spent many years thinking, designing, and combining materials to make it a reality. In March 2019, the first Numbering Carbon Bag Project—the 109 Carbon Sling Bag—was born.

The attention and positive response we received at that time fueled our next step in innovation, leading to the development of new products.

Now, we proudly introduce the second Numbering Carbon Bag Project: the 201 Carbon Multi Bag.

The name also reflects the identity of motorsports. Just like how a car or motorcycle's model name indicates its engine capacity or maximum speed, the Numbering Carbon Bag product line is named after the weight of the carbon hardshell.

 

The 201 Carbon Multi Bag's real carbon hardshell weighs just 201 grams, as its name suggests. This is achieved by manufacturing it manually using 100% carbon fiber, ensuring both strength and lightweight design.

The 201 Carbon Multi Bag can be used in four different ways, making it versatile for various situations. The product name reflects its adaptability, as it serves multiple purposes depending on your needs.

1. Business and Everyday: Briefcase style.

The 201 Carbon Multi-Bag is designed to protect your documents and valuables with the full protection of its Carbon Hardshell.

Similar in size to a full-sized briefcase, it can comfortably hold up to 17-inch laptops.

 

The simplest way to carry the 201 Carbon Multi-Bag is by using its handle, which offers a light and easy-to-move option, perfect for everyday commuting.

Since the handle is the most frequently used part, it is designed with durability and material quality in mind. Fixed to the top of the cover, the handle is double-locked with lockstitch and dedicated rivets, utilizing the durability of TEMPESTI ELBAMATT leather, coated canvas, and metal materials to ensure long-lasting performance.

 

The included shoulder strap can be attached, allowing you to wear the 201 Carbon Multi-Bag as a shoulder bag or crossbody bag. This adds convenience for everyday use, as well as work and business trips.

 

The 201 Carbon Multi-Bag is also perfect for short-distance trips. Its ample interior space can easily accommodate clothing, books, tablets, and handheld cameras for a two-day, one-night trip. The shoulder strap is designed for easy carrying, making it convenient to transport these essentials.

 

The freely adjustable shoulder straps are made from TEMPESTI ELBAMATT leather and Alcantara, offering both durability and comfort. The Alcantara-leather pads, the core of the shoulder strap, have been tested for optimal size through extensive trials, ensuring they can be adjusted to comfortably fit the user's body.

 

2. Backpack style – Ideal for any situation

For carrying heavy items like laptops or to keep your hands free, the two supplied backpack straps allow you to switch to backpack style. Made from TEMPESTI ELBAMATT, the straps provide increased durability and distribute weight evenly.

This style is perfect for designers, freelancers, and students who frequently carry heavy items like laptops, tablets, camera equipment, and books.

 

The backpack style is also perfect for overseas business trips and long-distance travel. The adjustable straps help evenly distribute the weight, reducing strain and conserving energy during long walks or extended use.

 

3. Suitcase Subbag Style – for convenient transport

For long trips or international travel, the 201 Carbon Multi Bag features a back holder that can easily attach to your suitcase handle. This allows the bag to stay firmly fixed, functioning as a subbag to your main luggage.

This design eliminates the hassle of constantly opening your suitcase. You can conveniently store items like your passport or business documents in the bag for easy access during your trip.

The bag remains securely in place, even with the shoulder or backpack strap attached. This ensures that you can remove and use it as needed, offering both flexibility and convenience on the go.

 

The back holder is also crafted with TEMPESTI ELBAMATT for a high-quality finish. With a width of 29cm, it is compatible with most suitcases, ensuring a secure and stable fit.

 

The bag holder is fully extendable, allowing it to fit onto carrier handles that are wider or thicker than the holder's original width. Additionally, the velcro material used is gentle, ensuring no damage to the fabric while providing a secure attachment.

 

4. Side-bag style for riding

Its high water resistance, durability, and carbon fiber hard shell ensure that the bag retains its shape perfectly, making it an ideal side bag for vehicles like motorcycles and bicycles.

 

By installing a bag bracket on transportation equipment such as motorcycles and bicycles, the 201 Carbon Multi Bag can be attached and detached with one touch.

The lower 2, center 1, upper 1, and four-point fixings are installed, so there is no worry about intense riding.

The concept of Newtro design—New Retro design—reinterprets traditional designs using classic materials to match the latest styling, resulting in a unique aesthetic through the carbon fiber hard shell.

The 201 Carbon Multi-Bag is designed with a unique and sophisticated style, making it ideal for any fashion and occasion.

 

Design upgrades through 9 months of sample testing after the key sketches demonstrate Factory M's commitment to creating not just a good-looking bag, but one that can be used comfortably for a long time.

Continuous design modifications through 3D design and 3D printing, along with countless user tests and in-depth research on each sample upgrade, have made the 201 Carbon Multibag a comfortable and easy-to-use bag for everyone.

 

A perfect combination of high-end products made from the best materials

The biggest advantage of the carbon fiber hardshell is its lightweight.

Perhaps every day, every hour the bag you have to carry around shouldn't be heavy, so we focused on lightening the hard shell.

The real carbon hardshell used in the 201 Carbon Multibag weighs just 201 grams, as its name suggests. It's lighter than a smartphone in your hand. This ultra-light hardshell has reduced the weight of the 201 Carbon Multibag to 1600g.

 

At only 1600g, the 201 Carbon Multibag is incredibly lighter than other brands of hardshell bags.

Compared to the famous aluminum hardshell briefcase of luxury brands, it is about 43% lighter. It is about 54% lighter than the semi-class hardshell briefcase made of leather, and about 24% lighter than the PC-based hardshell briefcase, which is considered ultralight.

CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic), a composite made of carbon fiber with a special epoxy, is known to exhibit 5 times the strength of iron and 10 times the strength of aluminum.

For this reason, carbon fiber is used in the latest fighter aircraft, such as the F22 and F35, which fly at supersonic speeds.

It is also known that there is no fatigue accumulation, which is a disadvantage of metal. One million cycles of aluminum and one billion cycles of steel lead to metal fatigue. On the other hand, carbon has been used extensively in the structural engineering of civil projects for earthquake design and in Airbus, which is famous for being the largest passenger aircraft, due to its limitless fatigue life.

 

In addition to physical protection, carbon hard shells also have properties that prevent and reflect radio waves.

It has the effect of blocking the misuse of electronic sleeves by copying and exploiting contents related to personal information, such as valuable mobile devices, passports containing NFC, and cards containing RFID chips.

Carbon fiber is called black diamond. Carbon fiber, made from carbon like diamonds formed under infinite pressure, has attracted attention in various fields such as fashion and high-end product design due to its unique depth and beautifully woven pattern.

However, carbon fiber composites are difficult to make.

Since 1985, carbon fiber has been commercialized in supercars, but there are still no automated processes worldwide, except for some simple forms.

In particular, high-performance carbon products can only be made by the skilled hand of the molding specialist.

Brand Factory M, which specializes in high-end carbon products, has commercialized more than 30 motorcycle products and developed the 201 Carbon Multi-Bag hard shell based on the accumulated data. In addition, all carbon hardshells are manufactured by a team of 12-year-old artisan technicians in our factory, with no outsourcing.

 

Most powerful UV-blocking, anti-scratch coating.

Factory M's unique in-mold clear pre-coating technology protects the carbon hard shell from yellowing and deterioration of properties due to aerospace-grade UV protection coating.

In addition, due to the differentiated process, the adhesion between the carbon fiber hard shell and the clear coating is 4 times higher than that of the general coating method, making it as strong as the impact.

 

The clear coating layer with high transparency and a deeper look at the beautiful pattern of carbon has superior surface hardness compared to general urethane coating. It uses Duratec® from Hawkeye Industry, Inc. of the USA. The cross-linked polymer layer also shows excellent chemical resistance.

In short, it is not easily scratched and resistant to external pollution such as acid rain and calcium chloride, so it always looks shiny.

 

The overwhelming presence of the real carbon hard shell

The hard shell of the 201 Carbon Multibag is made by combining carbon fiber and a dedicated epoxy in a vacuum, showcasing the best properties. This is completely different from the commonly seen 'carbon look'.

 

If you search for carbon on the Internet, most carbon look products appear. From the wrapping film labeled as real carbon to plastic products with water transfer methods and injected grid patterns, they are all marketed as carbon. But they aren't actually carbon.

Why do these carbon-look products dominate most of the market?

This is because they aim to replicate the scarcity and beauty of the original Real Carbon with the various advantages we mentioned earlier. Thanks to these carbon-look products, real carbon has become even more valuable. No matter how closely they try to imitate it, the depth and physical properties can never be matched.

All materials to the same top-notch level as real carbon hard shells

We use the finest functional materials to match the level of these best carbon fiber hard shells.

All leather parts of the 201 Carbon Multi Bag use TEMPESTI ELBAMATT Whole Leather, Italy's finest wax-coated vegetable leather. ELBAMATT Whole Leather is the world's finest leather with wax coating for excellent water repellency and high resilience. Likewise, the shoulder strap pads are made from Alcantara, a genuine Italian material, used in supercar seats and dashboards, with excellent wear and water repellency.

In addition, a multi-layer system is achieved by using PU waterproof coating on the finest canvas, luxury interior reinforcement, and TPU-coated oxford lining. This is the M LAYERED® system, one of the key technologies of numbering carbon bags. It also shows the surface of the luxurious canvas while allowing easy management.

All of this luxury material is stitched together with carbon hard shells using Kevlar® yarn from Dupont®, which is known for its armor protection and friction for motorcycle riding gear.

1. Completely Protected Inside, M LAYERED® System

We are not only pursuing perfection in the appearance of the 201 Carbon Multibag.

To be used in any environment, the top-quality canvas + PU-coated outside and TPU-coated oxford fabric inside are used to protect the contents from external contamination. Also, according to the required strength of each part, reinforcing materials used in the best luxury brands such as VXP, LB, BT are used. The reinforcement maintains the shape and resilience of the product and minimizes the impact from the outside.

This is the original quadruple protection system, one of the core technologies of the numbering carbon bag, the M LAYERED® system.

 

2. Inside of Numbering Carbon Bag, 201 Carbon Multibag

Revealing the interior of the 201 Carbon Multibag is because it has a proud build and is confident that no one can easily replicate it.

The top cover of the 201 Carbon Multibag is made of double top-quality canvas. And inside the canvas, reinforcement is carried out using Italian luxury reinforcement LB. Since the top cover is always bent, different properties of LB are applied depending on the inside and outside of the cover. This is applied after the careful calculation and testing of the artisan, showing the essence of 35 years of luxury manufacturing experience.

This ensures that the top cover that covers the 201 Carbon Multibag remains the first in any situation, anytime.

 

On the back and bottom of the 201 Carbon Multi-Bag body, there is another luxury reinforcement, BT and Texon. The tough yet highly resilient BT acts as a frame to effectively distribute the weight of the contents and to stand well on the floor.

In addition, these composite reinforcements effectively prevent external shocks, and protect the contents once again by applying EVA foam with excellent cushioning on the inner surface.

The side of the 201 Carbon Multi-Bag is also made using Japanese VXP, which is famous for its high-end luxury reinforcement. VXP is superior in elasticity and does not wrinkle, so it maintains the elasticity of the side even when used for a long time.

 

Developed with the concept of protecting the contents through multiple layers, the M LAYERED® system always maintains the shape of the product in the same state as the first through the double finish of the perfect waterproof material and the effective composite layer application using the internal reinforcement.

The 201 Carbon Multibag is designed to be large enough for a variety of everyday uses. The main space can hold 17-inch work laptops and large books.

 

Designed to hold laptops and tablets, the interior of the bag is completely covered with M LAYERED® Satin Suede, a non-animal suede developed with three levels of reinforcement to prevent scratches on electronics. The sub-pocket is also covered with M LAYERED® satin suede to keep your small items safe from scratches.

 

Using the physical protection and electromagnetic shielding properties of the carbon hard shell, we have created a pocket that can hold a mobile device, passport, or wallet on the inner side of the hard shell with the highest protection.

 

The YKK one-touch breaker is applied to prevent spilling of contents or excessive body opening and the carbon hard shell touching the floor. The position can be set freely at the desired angle and can be separated with one touch for ease of use.

 

The best finish up to one small part

Coating process of various metal decoration is Mil-Spec class level and durable enough to be used for military firearms. It also adds waterproof zippers and zipper slides made by YKK of Japan for even more functionality. Always available with the same quality, same performance, and finish.

TEMPESTI ELBAMATT is known for not slaughtering livestock for skin. Toray's carbon fiber, famous for its environmentally friendly materials. And we create everything from non-allergenic materials to pure cotton pouches wrapped in bags and stuffing paper.
